NewFoundDance is a fresh, new dance organization created by Robyn Breen to showcase unique choroeography and the talents of up-and-coming young dancers from Newfoundland.
The idea sparked when Robyn began working on some original choreography while studying dance in the BFA Dance Program at York University. She wanted to create an opportunity for dancers and performers who study away during the year to bring their studies home and show friends and families what they've learned. Last season's Summer Showcase featured dancers and choreographers living away, living at home, and those leaving home to study away for the first time.

August 2009
This summer, NewFoundDance is taking its Summer Showcase to a whole new level featuring all new choreography and live music. The curtain opens with a collaboration choreographed by Robyn Breen, Marie Daley and Erika Wilansky. The eleven person piece dances through diverse styles of movement touching on both contemporary and hip-hop. It is guaranteed to leave the audience wanting more.
Robyn will also be presenting six other new works including a solo created with musician Jeff Giles, who accompanies her on the piano with an original composition also created together, and, a group piece to the music of Radiohead which is a prequel to last summer's "Maybe Not". Marie Daley will also put forth her first piece of choreography as her own work to the music of Jane's Party.
Amanda Chretien shows two new pieces, one in the style of her usual sassy-pop, and another to music composed by members of Jane's Party personalized to suit her visions. Miranda MacDonald choreographs a stunning duet which she will perform alongside James Daly. Miranda also teams up with Robyn for a fun character-driven piece.
We are pleased to have Nicole Power back with her quirky contemporary choreography. All of the choreographers will be performing in the show as well as Vanessa Warren, Kaleela Dominic, Caroline Grant and Sonora Shano.
Jane's Party is a Toronto-based band who will be stopping in St. John's to perform with NFD while touring their first album, "The Garage Sessions". The band has worked very hard to compose original music (Zach Sutton also creates a percussion piece for Robyn Breen's up-tempo modern work), as well as perfect their own originals and some covers for the dancers.
